Double recognition for Serena Sanna, Research Director at the Institute for Genetic and Biomedical Research (Cnr-Irgb) in Cagliari: on Monday, November 13 in Rome, at the Protomoteca Hall of the Capitoline Hill, she receives the “Marcello Sgarlata Research Award”. The prize is granted, upon nomination by the President of the CNR, to outstanding researchers who have distinguished themselves for “the courage to advance excellence in research within their own region while upholding high values of honesty and integrity.”
The following day, November 14, she receives the Women of Science in Sardinia Award in Cagliari at Exma. The award is organized in collaboration with the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari, INAF and the Cagliari Astronomical Observatory, the Cagliari section of INFN, the Cagliari branch of the CNR Institute of Neuroscience, the Equal Opportunities Department of the Municipality of Cagliari, and the association Gi.U.Li.A. Giornaliste Sardegna. The award aims to recognize female figures who have contributed to enhancing the prestige and advancement of Sardinia in the scientific field.
With an outstanding international scientific output in the fields of genetics and microbiome research, particularly concerning cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, Sanna also won, in 2022, an ERC Starting Grant for the SEMICYCLE project, dedicated to women and gender medicine.
